The project

Best in Travel is Lonely Planet's yearly flagship campaign. This year's campaign is a bit of a break from the norm, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The problem

Due to the current global pandemic's effect on the travel industry, we needed to rethink how we were going to handle this year's Best in Travel campaign. With large portions of the world shut down, we decided to focus on destinations, individuals, and entities who strive to espouse one of our three platforms: Sustainability, Diversity, and Community.

The solution

We designed and built a completely new Best in Travel experience from the ground up. We allowed our award winners and their colleagues to provide us with a write up on why each winner was a good selection. We also created custom videos for each selection, and partnered with KAYAK to provide a booking widget corresponding with each destination. All of this is contained in a mobile optimized, gorgeous landing page interface.
